28 SUNNY IDEAS FOR BEACH THEMED DECOR!

28 SUNNY IDEAS FOR BEACH THEMED DECOR!

Imagine that your life is like a long vacation by the sea. White sands, sun, cool blue waves, cry of gulls and soul soothing breeze! But life is not like that right? So let’s see how we can bring the beach home…

Paint your room in soothing hues of blue. Broad horizontal stripes are very much in. Or opt for an all white room with natural tone cane or wooden furniture. Avoid any other color for maximum effect.

Now think of furnishing. Incorporate blue in curtains, drapes, rugs, bedding depending on your choice.

Artifacts like different kinds of corals or quaint models of sailboats can make you “feel at sea”. Instead of several separate show pieces, you can also go for a single large item that adds to the nautical miles…

A smart way of creating beach side serenity is adorning an entire wall of the room with enlarged digital prints like below. These can create the illusion of lazing by the sea, very effectively!

Mirrors can be used intelligently to showcase elements of the sea. See the one which has an arty frame made of dead branches. Or the one with a white frame and white crabs surrounding it…

For those who love fishing, just a large fish on the wall will look nice. In the second bedroom, note how the decor is slightly rustic in nature. We suggest you stick to using few colors and simple designs in such rooms.

9 MUST SEE TRENDS IN BEDROOM DECOR

Your bedroom is your sanctuary, your haven…where you want to be yourself without worrying about how others will judge you! We think it’s a great place to experiment with different creative ways of decoration. You can choose a look that will reflect your taste, personality or dreams 🙂

Here are some great trends that are garnering popularity this year:

Floral wall decal or sticker is a great way to instantly get a fresh, lovely look. Especially, a large piece of art looks elegant where everything else is designed in a simple way. More ideas here: http://tinyurl.com/musg86s

Combination of shades of gray, white and black always look classic. Take a look at this room …an indoor plant or an ornate chandelier can just add that luxurious but homely touch to this sophisticated bedroom!

grey

If you love the rooms in luxury hotels, you can get that look as shown below. Works best if your bedroom is large. Note the kind of furnishing and lighting used, to replicate the look. Soft lights, huge beds, extravagant headboards, large windows will enhance the feel.

Ethnic prints specially Moroccan has been offering universal appeal for some time. These unique designs are easy to incorporate in curtains, rugs, cushions, bedspreads or any upholstery covering. See how this room combines the “flavors” of Africa with a brick finish wall.

Green and yellow shades when used in combination with white or black, can create interesting looks. While mild shades of green can exude a tranquil feel, yellow has the power to cheer you up in a second. If you love bright or neon shades, just remember to use them in small doses for the right effect.

Using natural materials like wood, metal, stone or brick is very much in this year. Like in this room ,thick planks of wood act as wall decor behind the bed, The irregularly shaped rug lends an eccentric look!

Tartan is a pattern which is excellent for a rough, rustic yet comfortable bedroom. With an old world charm, it’s easy to use for pillows, bed covers, curtains or other furnishing. Coupled with a wooden wall, it looks gorgeous!

Blue never goes out of fashion and is a safe bet too. Soft pastel blue, navy blue, bright blue and even electric shades look stylish and work together beautifully.

Finally, never underestimate the power of white…very few things are as magically peaceful as an all white bedroom. An old fashioned four poster will make it look all the more quaint!

Most importantly, no matter what the trend is, a decor idea that reflects what you are and makes you long for your “nest” is all you need to be happy 🙂

HOW TO DE-CLUTTER YOUR BEDROOM…

Your bedroom is a place where you relax, unwind, and let your hair down. So it goes without saying that a clean and tidy room will always look more inviting than a shabby one, when you come home exhausted after a tiring day! This is exactly the reason why it’s crucial to control chaos in the bedroom and get organized…here are some great tips:

The traditional closet is always the first resort for most of us. A bit of clever designing can create adequate space…racks for hanging clothes, place for keeping folded items, closed cabinets, drawers for more delicate things, open shelves to hold bins which can house all the little odds and ends…

Image

A very ingenious way to create more space to contain clutter is having a headboard which is also a wall unit! This trick uses more of the vertical space and does not encroach on the precious floor area. You can store anything you want here or even display some artifacts. Use pretty storage boxes if you don’t want everyone to walk in on your stuff 🙂

Under the bed storage is another great idea to utilize limited legroom.  If your bed comes with drawers, great! If not, don’t worry…using some sober, coordinated bins can rise to the occasion very well. Use lidded ones to keep dust at bay and this way, you can store all your bedspreads, woolens or summer clothes without stuffing your wardrobe.

The simple bedside table has potential too…if it’s like a simple shelf or cubby, you can place the night lamp on the top and line up some bins underneath, just like a multifunctional piece of furniture!

The same goes for a window seat or bench with some space below. Just a couple of matching chic bins or baskets will hide mess and be visually pleasing at the same time…
