If you know the kind of jewelry she likes, then go for it without a second thought. Else, depending on the pocket pinch you are ready to bear…choose a simple but chic silver ring or pair of cute diamond earrings or a fashion statement neck-piece.

Who doesn’t love a luxurious and smart handbag? Immensely utilitarian and style statement too.

Gifting fashionable clothes is tempting but slightly dicey! If you are certain of the right size, then buying that sassy dress might be a good idea. But if you have even a single grain of doubt, go for a beautiful shawl or stole to win her heart!

Up for some spicy romance? Gifting aromatic bath oils and exquisite bath salts is a fabulous idea!

If you have a creative streak, try these ideas. Make a keepsake box with cardboard, felt, ribbons etc. You can also make heart shaped soaps from colored glycerin soaps usually available. Get the word “LOVE” stamped on each of them! A simple idea is also to tie a chic silver belt around a bright red cushion and dangle a tiny frame with your picture inside. Or pack a romantic movie, a light blanket and a packet of popcorn in a dainty basket for a lovely evening.

Nothing’s sweeter than chocolates…but make it unique. Make small, round paper cutouts for the paper cup base of each chocolate. Write words of endearment and appreciation on each cutout. She will smile every time she has a chocolate!

Nothing says it better than flowers…specially if you have created the arrangement yourself or a flowering plant in a stunning porcelain pot will be great too.

HOW TO TEACH YOUR KIDS ABOUT ORGANIZATION

Kids are super cute but they are usually mischievous mess-makers. So the earlier you start teaching them the value of organization, the more it will help them to succeed not only at school but everywhere else too.

ghk 1

babbleStart with every day habits or routine like packing lunch box or school bag, getting dressed or even brushing teeth before going to bed. This will encourage them to remember and learn to do the essential things regularly.

Designate a definite place and time of study. It should be a quiet place with least distractions. Encourage him or her to decide which assignments are priority. Sit with them to review the homework, things needed for school the next day or any special project work. You can install a pegboard near the study table to help organize papers, notes, art work, craft supplies etc. neatly.

3Use folders and files to sort and organize notes, assignments, completed work or work to do, separately. Make sure your child tries to do it himself gradually. Color code or label folders for ease if required.

While choosing a school bag or locker or closet organizer to store all school supplies, make sure it has enough compartments to arrange different things easily. This is where toddlers start figuring out what fits in where and why they should separately stack things like books, notes, stationery, lunchbox etc.

Pack-a-lock

Teaching kids to clean up after play time or store their dirty laundry neatly is a cool way to teach them organization and also keeps the nursery clutter free. Will help you to breathe easy too! Use our incredibly cute toy organizers, storage sacks and multipurpose laundry bags to control playroom mess. The double flap organizers will help them separately store their toys, games, books, clothes and much more! http://tinyurl.com/uberlyfe-animalstorage

Use labels for bins if that makes finding stuff easier. Like for instance “Everyday toys”, “Favorite Toys”, “Old Toys”. Keep the bins for old toys or clothes higher up on the shelf and the more frequently used ones on the lower shelves so that kids are able to reach them easily. Teach them to donate toys he no longer plays with…he will learn to care for others 🙂

Get a funky, vibrant calendar for your little one’s room. Let them inculcate the habit of jotting down reminders like- things to do, household chores to help with or maybe something they need for school, exam dates, assignment submission dates and so on. Or encourage them to create check lists.

When you go shopping, involve your kids while planning what things to get, which route to take. Even when you are planning a vacation, let them decide what clothes, games or essential items they want to take along.

CREATIVE IDEAS FOR A SMALL NURSERY

The adventure of parenthood is perhaps the most exhilarating experience ever! The planning for the baby’s room, splurging on all those cute little clothes and toys, deciding the name of your angel, your hopes and dreams and that seemingly endless wait till the baby arrives…

So why let the size of the nursery dishearten you when the space in your heart is big enough? Living in metropolitan cities very often deprives us of adequate space for everything. But here we bring you some great décor and organization ideas for small nurseries…

When the wall of a nursery is as captivating as the images you see above, they help divert attention from the size of the room! Needless to say, wall decals or stickers liven up plain, blank walls and are visually stimulating for the baby too. See more: http://tinyurl.com/qyplf2o; http://tinyurl.com/o2zkh4t

Closed low cabinets efficiently hide clutter and the top can act as a stand for little odds and ends. Drawers under the crib are really helpful when it comes to storing blankets, bedding or extra clothes.

If you have some space for a simple closet or wall unit, then nothing like it. See how some simple rods, racks and bins can solve the perennial problem of storage! Labeling each bin will help recognize which contains what. And we love the gorgeous combination of pink and grey in the second nursery too 🙂 See more: http://tinyurl.com/op3t84l

Use the vertical space as much as possible to save on floor area. This way there will be fewer things to bump into when you move about! Simple open shelves, hooks and rods can support most of the stuff as you can see above. The top of a traditional dresser can easily become a changing station. Don’t miss the dark blue walls in the second nursery. Though dark colors are usually perceived to make small rooms appear smaller, we beg to differ…it can provide an illusion of depth and an interesting background for light colored furniture.

If you are still confused about the décor, going for light colored walls and furnishing is a safe bet…the room will appear bright and airy too. Still, we suggest, listen to your heart and do what is best for your little one…you can never go wrong 🙂

ORGANIZATION IDEAS FOR THE LIVING ROOM…

There’s a reason why we call it the “living room”…we “live” here, enjoy with family and friends or just simply relax with a cup of coffee and a good book! We all have our own way to get the most out of this space. So making it look beautiful is very important. And let’s not forget, we usually have so much stuff that we need to figure out smart ways to design storage that pleases the eyes. The living room is a great place to go creative and come up with such solutions.

The first thing that comes to mind are shelves…simple floor to ceiling shelves can house tons of items, books, artifacts, stationery, photographs what not! Depending on the kind of things you want to display and the furniture in the room , you can choose a simple, new age look or a rough, rustic look or a plush, ornate look.

If you don’t want dust to get at your things or maybe want to store items which you don’t want your guests to see, closed cabinets are the best option…floor to ceiling and wall to wall cabinets are ideal for storing endless stuff. You can also go for a combination of shelves and closed cabinets or where only the TV shows (there is in built space to accommodate that)! Check out the images below for a clearer idea…

Other clever ideas are keeping pretty, matching bins (http://tinyurl.com/opytp64) under the coffee table or designing a stylish table around the sofa where you can arrange things both on top and underneath. Cushioned seating benches with box storage below is a great multi-functional piece of furniture. A narrow console or entryway table with bins or baskets in the space under, can help a lot too! See below for a closer look…

And here’s a real off the beaten track way of storing things in the living room without looking shabby…a staircase which leads to the loft and offers adequate storage simultaneously!
